About Me

Hi, I’m Joe Dosanjh, your friendly neighbourhood photographer, videographer, and director. I was born in Vancouver and moved to Mission when I was three, where I discovered my love for capturing life on my old iPhone. When I decided to switch from phone to professional camera I gathered all my saving tooth fairy and birthday money, I quickly learnt I had nowhere near enough for a new camera. I was crushed, but then months later as Christmas rolled around, I opened my last present from my parents and there it was, I finally got my first professional camera, I remember opening the box and It had a bright golden shine to it. Months of shooting every day quickly became my favourite hobby and at the time I believed that's all it could be, simply just a hobby. Until that random Tuesday In grade 10 English class, a friend asked me to photograph her vendor booth at our local market, soon other vendors followed and product photos became my first ever job. At 15, I realized photography wasn’t just a hobby anymore, it was my career.

Today, I specialize in creating images and videos that feel dramatic, emotional, and unforgettable, whether it’s for portraits, creative projects, or professional shoots. I also create and sell prints from my work, bringing a piece of my vision into people’s homes. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me exploring new locations, experimenting with techniques, or planning my next short film. My ultimate goal is to create movies and become a famous director, bringing stories to life on the big screen. If you’d like to collaborate or join the Life in a lens team or event just say hi, I’d love to hear from you!

Get To Know Me and My Journey

My journey started with photography, capturing portraits and moments that told a story. As I grew more confident, I began experimenting with video, starting with simple video portraits, then moving on to product videos for friends and local businesses. It was through this process that I realized my bigger dream, directing movies. Watching The Batman (2022) is what specifically made me realize my true dream, it showed me the power of cinema to move people, to make them feel something unforgettable. Growing up, I loved watching superhero movies like Batman, Spider-Man, and the Avengers and others, not because I dreamed of being a hero myself, but because I wanted to create stories that had that same impact on people. That desire to inspire, thrill, and immerse audiences is what drives me today, and it’s the reason I’m chasing my dream of becoming a director.

My Why?

THE REASON I DO WHAT I DO.

I do what I do because creating images and films allows me to make people feel something. Ever since I was young, movies had a powerful effect on me because I wanted to be the person who created that same feeling I felt but for others. Photography and filmmaking give me a way to turn ordinary moments into meaningful stories, whether through a single frame or a moving image. Every project I work on is a step toward creating work that inspires, connects, and leaves a lasting impression—and ultimately, toward my dream of directing films that move people the way movies once moved me.
